Granite Builder Installation

Granite Data Services 1.1+ comes with a brand new Eclipse plugin that runs automatically Gas3, the GDS ActionScript3 code generator. This tool is mainly intended to help you with Hibernate support by generating AS3 bean mirrors of your Java entities, but it may be used for other JavaBeans as well.

Installing this Eclipse builder is just a matter of downloading org.granite.builder_1.2.0.jar and dropping it into your Eclipse plugins directory. First, stop and restart Eclipse, making sure you have removed any older version.

You should now be able to use the Add GraniteDS Nature option in the contextual dropdown menu of your Java project. The next section will show a complete sample usage. You may also jump to reference documentation here.

Ant Plugin Installation (optional)

Beside Granite Builder, the Gas3 code generation tool is also package as an Eclipse Ant plugin so you may use it in the build.xml file of your Eclipse project. This plugin may also be used outside of Eclipse, in a Ant headless environment, when you need to build a project on an integration server for example.

To install this Eclipse Ant plugin, download org.granite.gas3_1.2.0.zip, unzip it in your Eclipse plugin directory, and restart Eclipse. Again, being sure to remove any older version first. See specific documentation on Gas3 usage and configuration here.

Since we are going to use Granite Builder in the next "Getting Started" sections, you may skip this installation for now.
